I’m learning a lot at my current job, mostly due to being in over my head and working as hard as I can to keep going. And it is good, most of the time. I’ll be much more employable at the end of my contract, and it’s an interesting experience.

But it’s becoming more and more obvious that I’m not planning on sticking around at the end of the year when my contract expires. Aside from obviously being a city boy, and missing my friends, I’ve started looking at rental properties back in town. If that’s not a sign then cliche cliche cliche.

I mean really, I pay for the domain name, I pay for hosting, and yet here I am, first post this year just because I’m procrastinating.

Oh well, it’s the way of the internet I guess.

Did you know I’ve moved to the country? I live in the middle of nowhere now, pretty much. It’s caused a bit of culture shock, and a lot of money to be spent on flights home. This school term alone I have spent $1500 on flights, just to get back to adelaide. Each flight takes about the same amount of time as a flight from adelaide to melbourne, but it’s a fuckton more expensive. But I do it, because I miss my friends.

So, friends, if you are reading this, I miss you, I love you all.

PS – Sisters, you’re alright too.

PPS – Dad, if you’re reading this, I’m impressed, but you probably shouldn’t read any further.

I keep staying up late working on a website, but not this one. I should probably fix that. But first, sleep.

It’s Sunday afternoon. (To some people, Easter Sunday, zombie Jesus day, and many many peoples birthday (Happy birthday many people!)) I’ve got a glass of wine and I’m listening to The Cops. It’s good. Here are some things I’m thinking about:

  • Wine is nice.
  • I haven’t listened to the cops in a while. I miss them.
  • I started watching Spartacus: Blood and Sand recently. Goodness it’s gratuitous. I thought Deadwood had a lot of swearing, violence and sex. Not compared to Spartacus.
  • Also, I didn’t recognise her at first, but it has Lucy Lawless in it. Or as she’s better known to my generation and lesbians everywhere, Xena (warrior princess)
  • Now think about those last two points for a moment. Xena. In a show with a lot of sex and nudity. Yep, I just saw Xena’s breast. If I went back in time and told thirteen year old me that one day he would see Xena’s boob, he would freak right the fuck out.
  • Admittedly this freaking out would be about me time travelling, thirteen year old me is still a nerd and can temporarily prioritise time travel over boobs. But eventually he’d get round to the boobs.
  • I ate a biscuit in front of my dog, she was watching me the whole time and I gave her nothing. I felt like the worst person ever. And she gave me one of those dog looks that is the equivalent of your parents “not being angry, just disappointed” and I felt worse. I then patted her for a while and she forgave me, no grudges held, nothing. Basically, my dog is a better person than I am.
  • I cooked a delicious roast for my family today. Garlic roast potatoes will one day kill me. I don’t care.
  • I wish I could time travel.

I think that will do for my ramblings right now. Time to watch more Spartacus. Or possibly play minecraft. (Either will probably end in napping, it’s sunday afternoon after all)

I had my graduation ceremony yesterday. I didn’t really take it that seriously, as it wasn’t my first, but it was easy to get caught up in the ceremony of it all. I was sitting in the second row, directly behind the VIPs (and one well dressed photographer) so I could clearly see all the people up on stage in fancy hats and colourful gowns, and the people in front of me were suited up or wearing dresses and looking more respectable than I do most days of the year.

Except one guy. The man directly in front of me was wearing shorts and a green hoodie. Like he was just walking past and decided to come and have a seat, right at the front of the hall. And his top was cold but his legs were warm. What the hell?

That’s all.

Just set up the amps at the practice studio, listening to a recording of myles’ (the talent) latest song writing, and it’s amazing. So excited about learning it. More later.

So far this seems to be working nicely, i’ve got a few kinks in the design to work out but I’m not having any major issues. The app is fairly simple, although the proof will be how well it posts this. I have to head to band practise soon, maybe there will be a post from there.

So I’ve decided to try my hand at blogging again. This will be my third time starting, my last attempt lasted a couple of years before I let it collapse. I’d been tempted for a while to start again, and decided to just do it before I procrastinated any further. If you saw the previous blogs then you know what to expect here. If you’re new, then you might find here a sporadically updated collection of ramblings about beer, bacon, maths, annoying people, science, music and any part of my life I find interesting enough to share. It’s now 1.40am so I might not start more than this tonight, but we’ll see what happens over the next few days.

I also intend to try the wordpress for android app, which may mean I blog more. Or it may mean that any friends who know how to unlock my phone will fuck around here. Or a combination of swype and beer will make this place look like a cryptographer’s wet dream. Who knows?
